Multi-objective optimisation – Benchmark of available technics.
Forum 'Stages' - Sujet créé le 2024-11-06 par Marion Perrodin
CONTEXT
Mastering its supply chain and optimizing its industrial processes is a major challenge for Saint-Gobain. In this context, numerous optimization models aim to make them more efficient at various stages of the manufacturing and distribution process.
The more often, our optimization models aim for a single objective. Nevertheless, the decisions to be made impact several simultaneous, sometimes competing objectives: customer service quality, product quality, economic issues, ecological impact… .
As part of this internship, we aim to evaluate the relevance and performance of different methods in the context of multi-objective optimization. This evaluation will focus on several use cases specific to our activities (S&OP, scheduling, product quality optimization, etc.).
INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVES
You will be responsible for all phases of the project development. Under the supervision of an applied mathematics engineer, the intern will be in charge to:
- Carry out a state of the art of the different methods with their advantages and drawbacks;
- Implement several multi-objective optimization methods (ε-constraints, Pareto frontier, multi objective genetic algorithms) on various Saint-Gobain-specific use cases (plant scheduling, S&OP, product quality);
- Evaluate the performances of the different implemented methods (solution quality, computation time, etc.)
DESIRED PROFILE
You are in 3rd year of engineering school or in the 2nd year of a Master Degree (mathematics & computer science) with solid knowledge in combinatorial optimization & computer dvpt ;
- You are motivated, curious, rigorous, enthusiastic, and have a taste for autonomy and experimentation;
- Knowledge in statistics and optimization software would be a plus.
- Knowledge or experience in multi-objective optimization would be a plus.
