CALL FOR PARTICPATION
2ND CONFERENCE ON OPERATIONAL PRACTICE IN AFRICA (see http://www.euro-online.org/africanOR/orpa2005 for more informations on ORPA) 10 - 14 September 2007
We are pleased to give notice of the 2nd OR Practice in Africa (ORPA) conference scheduled for Cape Town in September 2007. This conference follows on from the original meeting which took place in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso in April 2005.
SCOPE
---------
The aim of ORPA is to make a tangible contribution to Africa's sustainable development by raising awareness about the benefits of taking a more scientific approach when setting / making policies / decisions over key issues such as agriculture and natural resource management, food security, water resource management, poverty reduction, resource allocation (in healthcare, education, budget, finance, aid, etc.), supply chain management, humanitarian logistics, environment, urban traffic flow management, transport network design, etc.
This year the meeting will be run jointly with the ORSSA (Operational Society of South Africa) Conference and an OR Education Workshop (10 - 11 September 2007).
TALKS
---------
Abstracts (no more than 1 page long) and papers are being solicited from prospective authors. The paper must describe a real-world application of operational research / management science (OR/MS). Applications of OR / MS in developing countries in general are particularly encouraged. A detailed list of topics can be found on the ORPA website (http://www.orpagroup.org/ <??>)
