CFP - DAM - Spe. Issue on Networks in Computational Biology

Forum 'Annonces' - Sujet créé le 2006-12-27

DEADLINE of Submission EXTENDED
(January 7, 2007):

Special Issue on
Networks in Computational Biology
of the Journal

Discrete Applied Mathematics (DAM)

---------------------------------------------------

Discrete Applied Mathematics will publish a special issue on
Networks in Computational Biology, a topic that is also the theme
of a workshop to be held at METU, Ankara, Turkey, September
10-12, 2006
(http://www.iam.metu.edu.tr/Networks_in_Computational_Biology/).
Computational biology is one of the most fascinating fields among
the currently emerging areas of applied mathematics. Within the
last decade, biology "joined the club" and, following the
traditions for providing a solid foundation of scientific
investigation
established by physics a few centuries ago, began to develop
strong ties with mathematics, thus initiating enormous momentum
in all areas of academic, medical, economic, and social life. The
special issue will focus on a topic that is equally important in both
biology and mathematics: networks. It will (i) provide an overview
of, and (ii) present some important recent developments in applied
mathematics regarding the analysis of biological networks
focusing on theory, methodology, and applications.

The topics of the special issue include: (i) Modeling and
Prediciting Gene Patterns, their Dynamics and Evolution, (ii)
Structure and Dynamics of Gene Networks, (iii) Phylogenetic
Trees and Taxonomic Classification, (iv) Biomolecular
Sequence Analysis, (v) Protein Structure Prediction, (vi) The Role
of RNA in Genome Regulation, (vii) Modeling and Prediciting the
Dynamics of Metabolic Reactions, and (viii) Metabolic Networks.

All submissions must be focused on the topic of the special issue
and belong to the general scope of DAM. The main challenge and
principal goal of this premium special issue is to contribute to the
mathematical foundations of computational biology.

A very thorough process of refereeing will be guaranteed. This
high scientific level will enable and inspire readers to pursue
research projects in this field and its applications, thus serving --
and fostering a better and fruitful understanding between -- our
people and our nations.

GUEST EDITORS:
Prof. Dr. Andreas Dress, Prof. Dr. Bülent Karasözen,
Prof. Dr. Peter F. Stadler and Prof. Dr. Gerhard-Wilhelm Weber.

IMPORTANT DATE:
Submission deadline of full papers EXTENDED: January 7, 2007.

SUBMISSION DETAILS:
Authors may use the guidelines which can be found under
http://authors.elsevier.com/JournalDetail.html?PubID=505609&Precis=,
link: "Guide for Authors". Differently
from regular issues of DAM, for this special issue the authors
submit their papers to the guest editors firstly and then, in case
of acceptance by the guest editors, the contact authors submit
the final version online, followed by the editor's review and final
decision.

For paper submission and in case of any question please
contact one of the following guest editors by e-mail:
