We are dedicated to solving the world?s most demanding challenges by applying breakthroughs in computation to machine intelligence and optimization science through a widely accessible, quantum-ready software platform. 1QBit is seeking researchers to join our expanding team in researching quantum algorithms. In collaboration with our globally respected team of mathematicians, physicists, and computer scientists, you will have the ability to design and and implement solutions to interesting optimization problems in this exciting new field. If you have exceptional analytical skills and a passion for solving challenging problems, join us in empowering the global community of scientists and software developers with the foundational tools and expertise necessary to access and make use of the emerging paradigms of quantum information technology. Responsibilities Reporting to the Fundamental Research Lead, the 1QBit Operations Researcher will work as part of a team of multidisciplinary researchers and software developers to create mathematical frameworks and design algorithms utilizing a hybrid model encompassing a digital computer and a quantum processor. As a Researcher, you will engage in problem formulation, mathematical research, prototyping, benchmarking, and documentation of industry optimization problems and their solutions based on the needs of our industry partners and your own ideas and research. You will document your results in technical reports, with opportunities for publication in recognized scientific publications, presentation at scientific conferences, and application for patents. Qualifications The successful candidate is expected to have completed a doctorate in optimization theory, operations research or a closely related field. These areas have proven to be well-suited for quantum optimization algorithms: ? Operations research: mathematical modelling, scheduling problems, local search methods, heuristics, large-scale optimization and commercial optimization software ? Continuous optimization methods: linear and non-linear optimization, interior-point methods, gradient- based and derivative-free methods, duality, second-order cone programming, semi-definite programming ? Discrete optimization: integer and mixed-integer programming, cutting-plane method, branch and bound, branch and price, Benders decomposition, constrained programming, column generation ? Global optimization methods: stochastic gradient descent, stochastic optimization, heuristics, meta- heuristics, empirical algorithms, stochastic local search, Monte Carlo simulations, tabu search If 1QBit sounds like a place you?d love to call home, apply at 1QBit.com/careers or e-mail ?jobs@1qbit.com?
