Center of Expertise in Economic Modeling and Studies, CEEME, helps GDF SUEZ to better understand and manage its strategic and operational challenges in ever more complex energy markets. Servicing all entities of the Group worldwide, it provides leading edge competencies in microeconomics, industrial economics, econometrics, statistics, financial mathematics, applied mathematics and algorithmic computation.
Within CEEME, "Methodology & Models" (MeMo) comprises software related activities specialized in quantitative methods, covering all aspects of the products life cycle (conception, development, deployment and support), as well as related methodological support.
One of the optimization Team of MeMo located in Louvain-La-Neuve (30 km South of Brussels) is looking for a Junior Analyst in Operation Research.
Responsibilities
You will work on the development of state-of-the-art energy asset management models, which are used in Strategic and Operational Business Units of the Company. You will be part of a highly skilled and dynamic team, giving you unique opportunity to grow on the professional and personal level. Under supervision of a Senior Analyst, you will:
•Develop operations research based models used in the operational Business Units of GDF-SUEZ worldwide for
o plant operations and risk management
o fundamental simulation of energy markets
o gas portfolio management
•Follow applied scientific literature related to the underlying numerical methods and challenge their incorporation into the operational tools
•Take part to the day-to-day maintenance and support of the product suite
Profile
An ideal candidate for the position would have:
•You have an university degree in Mathematics or Engineering, necessarily at PhD level with Operations Research orientation
•You have knowledge of mathematical modelling languages (GAMS, XPRESS, AMPL, ...)
•You have good skills and interest in programming (e.g. Python, C,C++ ...) and in related IT matter
•You have interest in quantitative energy economics and a will to develop your competence in this area
•You have a strong team spirit and good communication skills
•You are fluent in French and a good knowledge of English
