Forum 'Emplois' - Sujet créé le 2017-01-06 par Jean-Philippe Gayon

Context. The PhD will take place at TOTAL (Paris la Défense) and GSCOP lab (Grenoble). The student will have to spend a minimum of one third of his time in each place.

Financial support. Three years, good salary. Trips between Grenoble and Paris financed.

Requirements. A strong background in operations research, linear programming, mathematical programming and computer science is expected. The candidate should be fluent in French or in English.

Application. Candidates are invited to send their application (in French or English) via email to Jean-Philippe Gayon (jean-philippe.gayon@grenoble-inp.fr) and Olivier Briant (olivier.briant@grenoble-inp.fr). Please include a CV, a short letter of motivation and contact information for 2 referees.

Objectives. The TOTAL Refining Chemicals objective is to improve existing refinery planning calculation tools to find quickly optimal solutions that are fully understandable, in coherence with operations and expert know-how.

The main objectives of this project are:

  1. To improve the current planning models in order to better fit with expert knowledge
  2. To develop methods and tools for smart reporting that could be handled by experienced or non-experienced planners, to help understanding the optimal solutions provided by the solver and to explore alternative scenarios
  3. To reduce computation times through innovative mathematical formulations and algorithms
