ENAC is the French Civil Aviation University. It's mission is to provide ab-initio and further training for the executives and main players of the civil aviation world. It is a member of PEGASUS, the European network of the main aeronautical colleges and universities. ENAC also offers a favourable environment for research activities. Today, ENAC has five competence areas which are: economics, systems engineering, information technology, applied mathematics, and communication, navigation and surveillance systems (Electronics).
Amadeus is the leading transaction processor and provider of advanced technology solutions for the global travel and tourism industry. Customer groups include travel providers (e.g. airlines, hotels, rail, ferries, etc.), travel sellers (travel agencies and websites), and travel buyers (corporations and individual travellers). As part of its diversification strategy, Amadeus is developing a suite of advanced decision support applications for the airline industry.
ENAC and Amadeus jointly invite applications for a Post Doctoral fellowship position. The project will be jointly hosted by the Optimization department of the Operational Research and Innovation Division of Amadeus and the LARA laboratory of the Ecole Nationale d'Aviation Civile. The project is scheduled to start in autumn 2010, for a duration of 12 to 18 months.
The project topic is the integrated disruption recovery for airlines, a critical and fast growing area of airline operations research, with many opportunities for exciting and challenging research for a new PhD. The PostDoc project will build upon significant achievements of the Amadeus-ENAC partnership in the field of disruption recovery. Simply put, the project aims at finding novel ways to address the disruption recovery problem and eventually propose a generic, accurate, fast and high quality solver.
Amadeus and ENAC are seeking an innovative and energetic candidate with a strong methodological background in operations research who wants to apply these skills to enhance airline operations management. They should be prepared to disseminate the project's findings through articles in top-tier journals and at international conferences. They will be involved in dynamic, multicultural teams, at Amadeus, Sophia-Antipolis, France, and at ENAC, Toulouse, France.
