The Sabana University is one of the most respected universities in Colombia. It has international reputation for its students and faculty worldwide mobility, quality of teaching and growing research, it is also one of the only twelve accredited universities in Colombia by the National Accreditation Council of the Ministry of Education. Its beautiful Campus is located about 20 km of the north of Bogotá. The Campus features a lake running for almost the entire length, providing a magnificent focal point, and also has one of the most complete student library, the most modern computer-based English-learning centre in Latin-America, several banks, shops and two restaurant facilities. Private sport facilities and shopping malls are only two to three blocks from the university.
The School of Economics and Administrative Sciences ("Escuela Internacional de Ciencias Económicas y Administrativas") is the biggest academic unit at the University in terms of number of students as well as in number of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The School of Economics and Administrative Sciences runs four undergraduate programs: Business Administration, Service Institutions Administration, International Business Administration, and Marketing and International Logistics Management.
Faculty from the School also takes an active role on both postgraduate and executive programs about Strategic Management, Service Management, Production and Operations Management, Logistics Management, Finance and International Businesses, Finance and Capital Markets, and Commercial Management, led by the Postgraduate Institute of the University.
Research within the School is performed by five research groups specialized on Technological Change and Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Quality and Service, Family Enterprises, and Marketing and Logistics. Interdisciplinary research projects are also run with other faculties of the university.
The posts
The School of Economics and Administrative Sciences is hiring several faculty positions in the areas of operations research/management sciences, logistics, supply chain and operations management, starting as soon as possible. We invite applications and nominations for positions at Assistant and Associate Professor Levels.
For teaching activities, appointees will be attached to the Department of Logistics Management. This department provides services to all programs in the School in the areas of logistics, operations and supply chain management. Appointees' research will be conducted within the young research group on Marketing and Logistics of the School. Four research lines are currently defined: strategic logistics, operational logistics, intelligent marketing and social responsibility.
Faculty at the School is expected to generate and conduct high quality research projects in collaboration with industry; supervise undergraduate and postgraduate theses; publish in top international journals; participate in outreach activities; and teach undergraduate and executive courses in English. Salary is competitive within the Colombian standards. Teaching load is also competitive and is determined every academic period depending on research expectations and performance and administrative load.
Requirements and application procedure
Requirements for the posts include a PhD in supply chain management, transportation, logistics, operations management, engineering, operations research or management sciences, or a related discipline. PhD candidates are encouraged to apply if their dissertation is expected to be defended before the date of appointment. Relevant experience in industry, applied research, or coordination of international research projects is a plus. Spanish language skills are not required for teaching or research.
