Postdoctoral Research Position in Collaborative Logistics/Game Theory

Forum 'Annonces' - Sujet créé le 2015-06-03 par Haoxun Chen

The Industrial Systems Optimization Laboratory (LOSI) at University of Technology of Troyes (UTT) is currently engaged in a research project of the ANR (National Research Agency) of France entitled "Collaborative Transportation in Urban Distribution". We are looking for candidates for a postdoctoral position with the research subject "Profit/Cost Allocation in Collaborative Logistics".

RESEARCH SUJECT

Optimization of logistics flows in the urban area is primordial for reducing air pollution and energy consumption, improving living conditions and assuring the sustainable development of a city. Collaborative transportation has recently emerged as a very effective approach for further consolidation of the logistics flows beyond logistics platforms in a city. In this approach, multiple shippers or carriers form a coalition (an alliance) and all members in the coalition collaborate with each other by pooling and sharing their transportation requests or by sharing their transportation means in order to reduce the repositions of empty vehicles and increase the fill rates of vehicles. One important issue in collaborative transportation is to fairly allocate the total profit or cost of the coalition among its members. The objective of this postdoctoral research project is to develop fair profit/cost allocation mechanisms that can be applied to collaborative transportation which may involve multiple carriers, shippers, and urban distribution centers.

This postdoctoral research in one year will be conducted at UTT, Troyes (160 km at southeast of Paris). It is expected to start in September or October 2015. The gross monthly salary of the postdoctoral position is around 2400 euros, which represents a net monthly salary of 1900 €.

REQUIRED BACKGROUND

The candidate must have a Ph.D degree in game theory, operations research, or applied mathematics. It would be a plus if the candidate had research experience in cooperative games and/or logistics.

APPLICATION MATERIALS TO PROVIDE

To apply for this postdoctoral position, please send to haoxun.chen@utt.fr your CV, a motivation letter, a copy of your Ph.D. degree, an extended abstract summarizing your previous research work with a list of publications, and two reference professors with their email addresses.
