2 PhD Studentships in combinatorial optimization
Duration: September/October 2018- September/October 2021
Subject: Combinatorial design of reconfigurable manufacturing systems
One PhD will be focused on combinatorial issues in process planning and scheduling, second PhD will be on combinatorial optimization under uncertainty.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate for a PhD in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering and operations research. This research project will concern the design of reconfigurable manufacturing systems. This subject is relatively new in the literature. The goal is to suggest novel adapted mathematical models and to develop an efficient methodology for solving combinatorial optimization problems appearing when a reconfigurable manufacturing system is designed.
One PhD is funded by the Pays de la Loire government and the second by the Technological Research Institute (IRT) Jules Verne for 3 years and covers a stipend of about 20,000 per annum (net) each. The candidates will be located at the IMT Atlantique (Nantes, France).

Applicants should have (or be about to finish) a relevant master degree. Strong knowledge of operations research techniques (integer linear programming, dynamic programming, graphs, stochastic programming, etc.) and programming skills (C++ or Java) are required. Knowledge of manufacturing systems would be an advantage.
How to Apply
Please send a CV + cover letter + master's degree grades or evaluation (even partial) + letter(s) of recommendation to alexandre.dolgui@imt-atlantique.fr.
