OPERATIONS RESEARCH/OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
The Department of Management Sciences in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo
invites applications for a tenure track or tenured faculty position in Operations Research or Operations
Management with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2018. The appointment is at the rank of Assistant
or Associate Professor or in very special cases, Full Professor.
Applicants should hold a PhD, or be near completion of their doctorate, and have a strong background
in Operations Research/Management Sciences, Industrial/Systems Engineering, or related fields.
Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in Engineering and must commit to apply to become
a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, Canada within two years of appointment.
We are particularly seeking individuals who have demonstrated research ability and have interests in
the theory and applications of stochastic and deterministic operations research methods to problems
in industrial and service organizations. Example of relevant areas include optimization, stochastic
processes and simulation with applications in data analytics, revenue management, energy, and
logistics and supply chain management.
Successful applicants are expected to maintain an active program of research, to attract and supervise
graduate and undergraduate students, and to participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching. The
salary range at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor is CAD $105,000 to 150,000. Negotiations
beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
Management Sciences is a dynamic and growing interdisciplinary department in the Faculty of
Engineering that has active research and teaching activities in Operations Research, Information
Systems, and Management of Technology. The Department offers an undergraduate degree in
Management Engineering, as well as Master’s and PhD programs in Management Sciences.
