Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Edinburgh to work on the project LOBI that is concerned with the interplay between machine learning and bilevel optimization. LOBI combines the expertise of Operational Research and Optimization at Edinburgh and of team INOCS at Inria in France (LILLE)  to explore the new opportunities at the intersection of machine learning and bilevel optimization.

 

This post will have a particular focus on models and algorithms in area of energy storage and smart electric grids. Based in Edinburgh, the position comes with the opportunity for extended visits to project collaborators in France and Canada. The post-holder will be encouraged to pursue his or her own, and newly arising, research questions, and will also be expected to contribute modestly to teaching in a manner compatible with his/her research expertise.

 

The post is available from 1st July 2019, or a mutually agreed date, for a 24 months fixed term contract.

 

The starting salary will be in the range of £33,199 - £39,609 depending on experience.
